How important is YOUR health?
How
important is your health? Do you
personally feel that good health is important?
How important should health be to a person? What exactly is health? Health is defined in Merriam-Webster’s
Dictionary as the condition of being
sound in the body, mind, and spirit.
It is also defined as “the state of complete physical, mental, and
social well being.” There is physical,
mental, emotional, and also spiritual health. A healthy state is “a state of well being free
from disease.”
Asking a
person “How important is YOUR health?” is like asking them “How important is
your life?” Our health is generally recognized as one of the most important
things we can have in life, and yet most people are making health and food choices
(life choices) which suggests that their health is not a high priority and not
that important to them.
Everyone
should find time to exercise and eat healthy because it promotes much better
health! Most people can easily find time
and money, to watch 200 channels on television, to get on the internet for 2 to
3 hours a day, to play their X–Box 360, to go shopping for the latest cell
phone or I-Pod, to go to the movies then eating out at a restaurant, to sleep,
or go to the bar and drink beer.
Most people
routinely and consistently are spending time and money on plenty of things that
really don’t enhance quality of their life but when it comes to exercise &
fitness, eating healthy, good nutrition, or even relaxing activities, people
usually swear they don’t have the money or enough time to. Exercise & physical activity promotes
better physical, mental, emotional, and also spiritual health. Exercise
even promotes better
sexual health! ♥

Health
is the one thing that is quickly and frequently taken for granted by most people. Sometimes one wonders
“Do people really truly care about their
health?” Most people do have
the intentions of eating healthy or exercising regularly, but people of the
world have became so busy in their lives that their health and exercise often gets
pushed down to the bottom of the priority list.
This happens quite often, unfortunately.
Sad but true, most people cannot stay motivated and encouraged without
an exercise partner or someone they are close with who also eats healthy and
lives a healthy lifestyle. They get so
wrapped up in “life” that they suddenly aren’t going to the gym to exercise
and/or it is sacrificed on lunch breaks for something the boss asked you to do.
People resort to eating out at restaurants versus taking the time to cook a
good healthy nutritious meal. Most people need someone to
motivate them, encourage them, and to keep them focused on their desired weight
loss or fitness goals.
It is
sad when you “notice how your patient’s and client’s health is really
suffering”. Imagine when a person
becomes sick with the flu and they go to the doctor and find out their blood
pressure is high and/or their cholesterol is high. The doctor asks them “Are you on an exercise
program?” Then it’s the same old story
every time. You hear about how “they
used to exercise and eat healthy”.
You
hear how they have been intending to get back in the gym or how they have a
treadmill downstairs in the basement but it has been collecting dust. Or they have gone to their chiropractor for
back pain and they quickly discover how tight their muscles are. The question is asked “Do you exercise?” Not in about 8 months the patient
replies. “When
do you feel would be a good time to
start?” It will be NOW if it is important!
