Attitude and Confidence

Attitude and Confidence
Something I want to talk about when it comes to achieving goals is Attitude and Confidence. So what is a healthy successful attitude? And what really is confidence?

What is attitude?

Attitude is mentally how a person is thinking and feeling about a situation, as reflected by their behavior, their actions, and their words. Your attitude is your perception about a situation. Your attitude determines how quickly and easily you achieve success. It can very easily determine success or failure. Regardless of what the situation looks like or what the circumstances are, do you keep a good attitude about it? Do you believe you will get through the situation? Do you have a negative attitude or a positive attitude?

I have spoken to many people over the years about circumstances that have happened in their lives. Some have positive attitudes and unfortunately many have negative attitudes. It's normal for people to whine, complain, and fuss about their circumstances. I would go as far as to say that is human nature (for a short period of time). But only a positive attitude is going to help you achieve your goals and to help you become successful and victorious.

You may have to monitor yourself and be careful on how you talk about your circumstances and even other people around you. Are the people around you destroying your good attitude? Stay focused on your goals and persevere. As you begin to keep a good attitude, you will be on your way to achieve your goals. No matter what your struggles and challenges are, just keep a good attitude. Brian Tracy said "You cannot control what happens to you but you can control your attitude to what happens to you."

"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. Thomas Jefferson

Trying to lose weight for many people can be very frustrating. You try and try and try and try and you wonder when the results are going to come. You think you are doing everything right so gosh what's the problem? Are you keeping a good attitude about your program? Sure maybe you need to make some changes in what your are doing. Maybe you aren't doing enough? Could it be your diet? Should you exercise more? Just keep a good attitude and realize you are learning and growing stronger and tougher, and growing more spiritually as a person.

What is confidence really?

Confidence is the feeling or belief that something will happen. Confidence is also the feeling or belief that something is true. Confidence is also the feeling or belief in one's own personal abilities; and that you can do or achieve things. When a person has lots of self confidence they believe in themselves, in who they are, and in their own abilities or qualities.  "Confidence is something you create within yourself in believing in who you are."  Unknown.  And it's not just believing in who you are but in what you can do.

It can also be said that confidence is a state of mind.  But real true confidence isn't drinking your energy drink before you workout or taking an energy pill to give you energy.  Sure those can both work and effectively but then you are always relying on those factors to give you confidence.  Real true confidence is the person who wakes up and goes to the gym without those things.  It's natural energy that propels them.  So confidence is a natural state of mind that you wake up in every day.  It's not something you just suddenly feel.  Do you have to psych yourself up before an interview or do you walk in knowing that you interview well already and that you have the job?

Now there are many who have lots of confidence and many who have very little. Why don't some people have it? Because they don't truly believe in themselves and in their own abilities. These people might not believe and have confidence in the people or circumstances around them either.  Jesus said "If thou can'st believe all things are possible." Mark 9:23

And why don't people believe in themselves? This could be for several reasons. Life's circumstances somehow sometimes seem to lower someone's self confidence. Often times people allow life's circumstances and other people to sabotage and destroy their own self confidence. Sometimes people don't have confidence in their plans to achieve things. They believe they can achieve them but the plan doesn't seem to be working.  It can be how they grew up or were raised. It can be where they grew up.  It can depend on the people you hang/hung around.  There are so many factors that can influence confidence.

In sports often times a team just needs a good coach and a good plan. Do you have a good plan to achieve your goals? Do you have a good plan that helps you feel confident that you can achieve these goals? If not then why not? So when will you come up with one? How do you really truly see yourself? When you close your eyes how do you begin to see the person inside you? Do you begin to see a very confident person that can achieve their goals? Do you really truly believe in yourself?  Do you believe that you have a master plan to obtain your goals?  It's a new year now.  Are you determined and feeling motivated to achieve your fitness and weight loss goals?  Are you striving towards better health?  What has to happen for you to do these things?

If you are a part of a team, then do you have confidence in your team or coaches, players, managers/supervisors, or other team members? Hopefully so.
