Does Sleep Affect the Body's Metabolism?

Does Sleep Affect the Body's Metabolism?

Does sleeping really affect the body's metabolism?  Does getting in enough sleep at night (or during the day)  truly effect the body's metabolism?  The answer is YES!  Many of us are aware that a person must consistently get in 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night to build muscle.  Many of us are also aware that getting in an adequate amount of sleep each night improves physical and mental performance with athletes in sports. Getting enough sleep at night obviously gives a person more energy.  But is that the same case for someone wanting to lose weight and burn fat?  The answer is YES!   If you really desire to kick in your body's metabolism do keep reading!

Similar to an athlete, your body needs to be well rested and mentally refreshed to properly allow your metabolism to function optimally.  If, you want your body to function properly and your body's metabolism to function optimally then you MUST get in 6 to 7 to 8 hours of good quality sleep every night with 7 to 8 hours of sleep being best.  You also must go to bed approximately the same time every night.  Not getting in consistent sleep regularly may impact your weight loss or fat burning results and your entire exercise program.  And pretty much ALL of us desire to burn fat and have a lean healthy body.  Don't we!?

For example, you have someone who goes to bed one night at 11 pm then next night at 2 am the next night at 12:30 am and the next night 1:45 am.  This is not good for you mentally or your body's metabolism.  Being on sleep cycles such as this throws off your body's inner body clock and thus does not help your body's metabolism and it sure won't help you with your weight loss or fitness goals.

Getting a proper night's rest and an adequate amount of sleep each night will also improve your health, lower your stress level, improve your mood, increase your desire for sex, give your more energy, much more alertness and mental clarity and more motivation and discipline for your fat burning program.

So remember, when going on a new weight loss diet, do yourself a HUGE favor and remember to get plenty of sleep so that your body can function the way it needs to.  If you have to and you are able to, take a power nap on occasion.  Power naps or even meditation can give you that mental boost of energy so that you feel refreshed to help you continue with your day.
